When a second device makes sense
- A desktop that is always on, plus a laptop for travel.
- A home server for scheduled work, plus your main machine.
- A shared office machine a whole team watches.
Add the second machine
- Install the agent on it: macOS or Linux.
- Log in with the same account — the device appears in the console automatically.
- Use device assignment to attach it to an agent profile.
Decide who executes what
A second device can claim tasks when the first is busy, or it can own its own schedule — for example, the always-on machine runs the cron jobs while the laptop handles interactive work. The fleet guide explains claiming and routing in detail.
Keep the pair sane
- One budget view: token budgets and spend caps should cover both devices.
- One audit view: both devices write to the same audit history, so a problem on either shows up once.
- Decommission properly: if you retire a device, revoke its access instead of leaving a stale token around.
